The Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) is an autonomous corporate entity attached to the Department of Tourism (DOT). The PTA was created on May 11, 1973 by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 189 (P.D. 189) synchronously with the DOT as the latter's development arm.

 

The recognized leader and authority in tourism development at par with international standards, responsive to cultural, environmental and social concerns.

 

Committed to pioneer, develop and improve captivating tourism destinations.

 

In pursuit of its mission as set in its revised Charter (P.D. 564), the Authority is mandated to perform the following functions:

  • Develop identified tourism priority areas
  • Operate, maintain and promote facilities in a pioneering capacity
  • Provide technical and financial assistance to qualified tourism projects
  • Generate revenues to fund national and corporate development undertakings
 

We,  the officials and employees of the Philippine Tourism Authority hereby pledge the following:

  • Provide at all times, the highest possible standard of courteousness and honesty in extending services to internal and external clientele.
  • Observe at all times, transparency in decision-making, contract negotiations, procurement of supplies and equipment and processing of official documents..
  • Implement timetables for appropriate and prompt actions in the processing of official documents.
  • Conduct continuing uplifting and capability programs focusing on character buildup, skills services development to set up a dedicated and committed work force of responsible public servants.
  • Promote the operating entities of the Authority through participation in national and international trade fairs, exhibits and tourism events.
  • Preserve and prioritize the ecological environment and cultural heritage of properties being developed for tourism projects.
  • Evaluate qualified tourism projects and provide financial/technical assistance if warranted.
  • Efficiently process request for travel tax privileges and collect all dues and other fees to continuously generate revenues to fund national and corporate development undertakings.
